Lyrics

Glitter in the Gutter by Erin Harkes

You like a side street I missed the sign for
I guess I wasn’t paying attention
Didn’t want to turn on you
‘cause I was lost and still I knew I was going in a different direction

And it’s alright every city’s got a Main Street
Got a bus station in the worst part of town
I'm sitting curb side waiting for my ride and happened to look down
You won’t believe what I found

It was a shiny little piece of glitter in the gutter and
If there was ever a distraction well this stopped it
I picked it up and hosed it off and made it good as new
Did it surprise you that it didn’t lose its shine because somebody dropped it?

You slipped into me like an old pair of jeans
Poured into my drink and checked yourself out in the glass
No one could look at you as much as you and still you knew to look deep into my eyes
Before you dared make your pass

And it’s alright every city’s got a guy like you
Got a bus station in the worst part of town
I'm sitting curb side waiting for my ride and happened to look down
You won’t believe what I found

It was a shiny little piece of glitter in the gutter and
If there was ever a distraction well this stopped it
I picked it up and hosed it off and made it good as new
Did it surprise you that it didn’t lose its shine because somebody dropped it?

My heart crawled from my chest, slid right up my throat
And said to my head ‘you wanna take this outside?’
Who’d win the fight if Medusa met Midas?
You’re left with a heart of gold, a head of stone
Somebody’s gonna have to run and hide

And it’s alright every city’s got a place to hide in
Got a bus station in the worst part of town
I'm sitting curb side waiting for my ride and happened to look down
You won’t believe what I found

It was a shiny little piece of glitter in the gutter and
If there was ever a distraction well this stopped it
I picked it up and hosed it off and made it good as new
Did it surprise you that it didn’t lose its shine because somebody dropped it?
